Biography:
Eric Seohyun Moon is a Violist from South Korea. He has graduated ‘Seoul Arts High School’ and attended to ‘Seoul National University’. Before his move to Frankfurt, Eric was also a student in Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin with Prof. Tabea Zimmermann and Simone von Rahden (Jandl).
Mr. Moon was awarded in numerous major competitions in Korea; 1st prizes of Dong-a Music Competition, Music Association of Korea, CBS Music Competition (Grand Prix), Strad Music Competition etc. He was also awarded 1st prize at the 24th “Gaetano Zinetti” International Competition in Italy and was a finalist of the 74th Prague Spring International Music Competition and won the Czech Music Fund Foundation Prize. He participated to the ‘Verbier Festival Academy’ and took masterclasses from Antoine Tamestit, Lawrence Power, Lars Anders Tomter, Gábor Takács-Nagy, Pamela Frank etc. As a solo player, he has played with the Korean National Symphony Orchestra, Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra, Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, Gangnam Symphony Orchestra, Earnest Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul Arts High School Orchestra and made numerous recitals in Korea, Germany and in Italy. From 2020 to 2022, he was a member of “Abel Quartet” and developed his musical career also as a string quartet player, playing in numerous concerts and Festivals such as Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, Tongyeong International Music Festival, Seoul Spring Chamber Music Festival etc. Apart as a passionate musician, Mr. Moon is also an influencer, being the founder of “ClasscialMusicMatters” on Instagram. He is a scholar of “Karajan-Akademie” of the Berliner Philharmoniker mentored by Ulrich Knörzer, and doing his solo studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt, with Prof.Tabea Zimmermann. And he is currently playing on “G.B. Ceruti Cremona 1798” Viola generously loaned by “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben”.
