Biography:
Born in 2001, Johannes Moehrle has always been interested in a multi-faceted career.
He started studying viola with Tabea Zimmermann in 2019, before starting a French and German literature degree in 2020 at Oxford university. Discovering the existing links between both art forms is something he believes allows for a better understanding of music and literature.
Born in Geneva, he started playing the viola at the age of 4 with Laurent Rochat. Along the years he also studied with Noémie Bialobroda and Andriy Viytovych and took part in masterclasses with Nobuko Imai, Garth Knox, Jean Sulem amongst others.
His enthousiasm for chamber music and orchestra repertoire have led him to participate in the Verbier Orchestras, the Zermatt Music Academy, the Karajan and the Seiji Ozawa academy. Since 2021, he is also member of the Gstaad Festival Orchestra.
Since 2022 he is also artistic director of the Ensemble PuplinGE classique, a versatile ensemble, resident at the Festival Puplinge Classique.
