Maj Julia Bommas
Biography:
Maj Bommas was born 2008 in Stuttgart/Germany. She took her first step into music 2012 with the violin. 2016 she started to learn the viola. In 2014 Maj discovered the clarinet. Since 2021 she studies clarinet with Yoshias Weber at the Filderstadt music school.
With violin and viola, Maj was pupil of Meike Brandenbusch at the Ludwigsburg music school. Since the beginning of September 2022 she is in the class of Prof. Gunter Teuffel in Filderstadt. In June 2023, she was accepted in the Young Academy at the HFMDK in the class of Tabea Zimmermann.
She successfully participated several times in „Jugend Musiziert“ with violin, viola and clarinet, 2022 with a first prize in piano/string quintet and second prize in clarinet duo in the final round. Playing in a duo clarinet/piano with her brother, Maj received a first prize in the 2019 Hamburger Instrumentalwettbewerb. Maj was accepted with the viola in the 2022 edition of the German chamber music workshop for “Jugend musiziert” prize winners. She received an invitation to the Würzburg Mozart-Laboratory, where she performed the Mendelssohn Octet. Maj participated in masterclasses for clarinet with Prof. Kilian Herold, Prof. Thomas Lindhorst and Prof. Nikola Jürgensen and for viola with Prof. Hertenstein.
She is member of the “Landesjugendorchester Baden-Württemberg” as section leader of the viola and member of the “Bundesjugendorchester”. She is pupil of the „Musik Gymnasium Baden-Württemberg“ in Stuttgart.
