    Biography:

    Lev Loiko was born on October 8, 1991 into a family of Russian chemists. He received his first violin lesson at the age of 5 from Naelya Chistyakova in Ivanovo. In 2010 Lev won the national scholarship for art and culture in Moscow.

    After completing his studies at the Mussorgsky College of Music in Saint- Petersburg and the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Lev continued his musical education in Germany with Julia Gartemann at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler and joined the class of Tabea Zimmermann in 2016. He completed his Bachelor of Music with Tabea Zimmermann in 2019, additionally to his diploma of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory which he achieved in 2015. From 2017 to 2019 Lev has been a scholarship holder of the Karajan Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker which shaped his devotion to become an orchestra musician. For his Master Degree Lev then studied with Wilfried Strehle at Universität der Künste Berlin from 2020 and gained profound orchestra music experience working as a guest player with the Berliner Philharmoniker around the world.

    In September 2022 he joined the viola section of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and since September 2023 Lev is playing the position of deputy principal violist at Oper Frankfurt.

    Lev attended master classes given by, among others, Yuri Bashmet and Tatjana Masurenko. He has been awarded a number of prizes at international competitions and has been invited to festivals such as Prague Spring, Easter Festival in Baden-Baden, Heidelberger Frühling, Art-November, Zermatt Music Festival, classic.Esterhazy and others pursuing his passion for chamber music.

    His freetime Lev dedicates to his interests in art, history and literature as well as sports and cooking and to teaching the viola. In 2020 and 2021, Lev was invited to give master classes at the Gnessin Academy of Music in Moscow and since 2023, Lev is coaching the viola section of the Neue Philharmonie München.
