    Biography:

Having graduated “cum laude” from the Conservatorium of Music, Amsterdam, where she studied with Marjolein Dispa and Nobuko Imai, Judith went on to study further with Tabea Zimmermann at the Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik in Berlin.

Since completing her studies Judith has become a multi-faceted musician.  Equally at home on stage as a soloist, playing chamber music, guest leading an orchestral section or giving masterclasses as a teacher.

As a soloist she has worked with conductors such as Frans Brüggen and Alexandru Lascae, performing works such as Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, Bartok concerto, Berlioz’s Harold in Italy, Leo Smit concerto as well as Bruch’s Romance and Double concerto.

She performs chamber music in various collaborations with internationally renowned players such as Phillipp Graffin, Nobuko Imai, Gary Hoffman, Hannes Minnaar, Dominic Seldis and Maria Milstein.  Performing regularly in The Netherlands and abroad she has enjoyed playing recently at The Grachtenfestival, Internationaal Kamermuziek Festival Utrecht, Wonderfeel and Kamermuziekfestival Hoorn.

Judith regularly guest leads viola sections for Philharmonie Zuid Nederland, the Gelders Orchestra and the Residentie Orchestra. After completing the Academie of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra she joins the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra for tours around Europe and Asia. Besides working with these established orchestras she is also involved with newer, mould breaking groups such as Luwig and Pynarello.

Whilst finishing her Masters Degree back in Amsterdam in 2008, Judith was invited to join the faculty of the Sweelinck Academie, part of the Conservatorium of Music, Amsterdam.

There she works with talented young musicians, drawn from all over The Netherlands, teaching a viola class, chamber music and directing and conducting the Academie’s student string orchestra.

She’s also part of the organising team for the biannual Amsterdam Viola Festival, during which she gives masterclasses and concerts.
