    Silas Zschocke (born 1997 in Karlsruhe/Germany) started playing the violin when he was six. At the age of eleven, he began to play the viola. One year later Silas studied with Prof. Johannes Lüthy and Prof. Jörg-Wolfgang Jahn in the PreCollege at University of Music Karlsruhe.

    From 2012-2015 henstudied with Prof. Ina Kertscher at the Institute for Gifted Children of the University of Music, Drama and Media Hanover. From 2015-2019 Silas studied with Prof. Tabea Zimmermann and Simone Jandl at School of Music „Hanns Eisler“ Berlin. In 2018/19 he studied with Prof. Martin Outram and at the Royal Academy of Music London. Since wintersemester 2019/20 he studies with Prof. Lawrence Power at University of the Arts Zurich.

    At the the Verbier Festival Academy, Silas worked with artists as Yuri Bashmet, Lawrence Power, Menahem Pressler and Antoine Tamestit. Furthermore he had lessons with Gilad Karni, Hartmut Rohde, Roland Glassl and Alexander Zemtsov. Silas is winner of national and international prizes, including the „Hans-Sikorski-Memorial Prize and „Werner-Stiefel-Prize at the international Carl Fleisch Academy. He is a finalist of the Cecil Aronowitz Viola Competition Birmingham and the International Johannes Brahms Competition in which he received the Jury Prize. Silas has performed as a soloist with a variety of orchestras including Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen under Tung Chieh-Chuang, Baden-Baden Philharmonic under Pavel Balleff, Bergische Symphoniker and Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra. He played in many countries in Europe, Asia and the United States, at several festivals as the Rheingau Musik Festival, Merano Music Festival, Abu Dhabi Classics and BBC Proms. At the „Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival“ 2019 he played chamber music with artists as Janine Jansen, Amihai Grosz and Jens-Peter Maintz. Since 2017 he is supported by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.

    In 2017 he recorded Tschaikowskys Andante cantabile with string orchestra, released on RCA Red Seal Sony Music. As a winner of the „22. Wettbewerb des Deutschen Musikinstrumentenfonds 2014“, Silas plays on a viola built 2014 by Haiko Seifert (Plauen/Germany) as a loan from „Stiftung Musikleben Hamburg.
